Zurich to Strasbourg by Bus: Our Foggy Ride

Zurich to Strasbourg by Bus: Our Foggy Ride, Best Moments cover on green background

After our days in Switzerland, Dimple and I packed up and headed for France. We went the easy way: by bus, from Zurich to Strasbourg.

Settling in

A foggy highway

The view out the window was mostly fog. The highway disappeared into white, which made the ride feel quiet and slow in a good way.

From fog to sunshine in Strasbourg

Somewhere between Switzerland and France, the fog gave up. By the time we stepped off the bus in Strasbourg, the sky was clear and the city was bright with autumn sun.

We got off right next to a Wettenberger Bussi van, picked up our bags and started walking. The trees along the way had turned yellow, and after all that grey outside the bus window, all that colour felt like a welcome.

Then we crossed our first canal bridge. Water, old buildings and sunshine: not a bad first look at France.

A sunny walk through the old town

We had a little time before our train to Paris, so we spent it walking. Our first big stop was Strasbourg Cathedral. It towers over the square, with half-timbered houses lined up on either side, and of course we had to take selfies.

In a small square nearby, we stopped for one more selfie beside a bronze statue.

Then we wandered back toward the water. Every canal bridge gave us another view of sunny autumn trees and old buildings reflected in the water, so we kept stopping for photos.

It was a short walk, but after a foggy ride, Strasbourg in the sunshine was the perfect way to start our France leg.

My favourite part of Strasbourg, though, was climbing the cathedral tower: the spiral stairs, the mural and the rooftop views. It got its own post, linked below.
