Our room wasn’t ready yet, so instead of waiting in the lobby, Rosed and I bundled up and went for a walk. It was our first real look at Zurich.

It was grey, cool and a little rainy, very different from the weather back home. We stopped on a bridge over calm water, with apartment buildings on one side and trees in yellow and orange on the other. The streets were wet and covered in fallen leaves, and Rosed walked ahead with the umbrella while I took photos.

It wasn’t a big sightseeing day, just the two of us walking in the cold air and getting used to being on the other side of the world. Sometimes those are the best moments of a trip.

When the rain picked up, we took a quick Uber to the Glatt shopping centre to warm up with coffee and Italian pastries. More on that in our Glatt post.
Earlier on the trip: our layover at Hamad Airport in Doha, with the giant teddy bear, the Oreo cafe and a Burger King stop
Up next: coffee, Italian pastries and ice cream at the Glatt shopping centre
