At the H4 Hotel Wyndham Paris Pleyel Resort in Saint-Denis, just north of Paris, the breakfast restaurant, Le Chopin, is split into stations, each with its own glowing name. Follow the “Le Chopin” sign down the corridor, and you’ve found it.
La Boulangerie: the pastry bar
First stop: croissants and bread under a neon “La Boulangerie” sign. It’s Paris, so the croissant is basically required.
Show devant!: the hot buffet
Then comes the “Show devant!” counter, a play on the French “chaud devant” (“hot coming through”). It has scrambled eggs, sausages, bacon, potatoes and baked beans, which is everything you need for a full plate before a long day of walking.
Coffee, tea and Le Bar à Jus
There are coffee machines and teas for the caffeine crowd, plus a juice bar with dispensers under yet another neon sign. By now we suspected someone on staff really loves neon.
